Here is the link for the first part of this weekend's assignments: http://www.marxists.org/subject/education/freire/pedagogy/ch02.htm
For this assignment, write a one page minimum response ( note: all assignments are always double-spaced) to Freire's essay in which you attempt to answer those questions that I gave you in class. This is a difficult work (perhaps the most difficult reading of the semester), but consider this: The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible. Remember do not summarize the essay!
Analyzing another Homework Assignment
The second part of the assignment requires you to take a critical look at another class. Choose a single assignment or lecture and analyze it. In a one page minimum response answer the questions I gave you in class (your response should be apart from your response to Freire's essay, but you may make connections if you would like). Nat
urally, as a student, you should actively be evaluating, assimilating, and engaging with the material you are exposed to in your classes and in the world around you. Learning to do that well is vital for success in this class. Also try to remember that although you are providing this for an English class (and thus should be looking at the language or connecting it to what I talked about in class), do not limit your examination only to the language. Try and show me the value (or lack of value) in what you are being exposed to -- beyond the "all important grade" (and subsequent degree) that you hope to earn eventually. These assignments are due on Monday at the beginning of class. If you have a question, or for some reason the link does not work, send me an email and I will get back to you shortly.
Reminder: If you have not turned in your blue cards to the Writing Center, do so before Monday.
